Kimi sets the pace at first test day

Today, Kimi Räikkönen started a three day test for the Ferrari team at the Jerez circuit in southern Spain. Together with his team mate Felipe Massa the Finn began work on the development of the new Ferrari F2008.

The first test day in Spain started rainily, which handicapped the development work a littel. The track remained damp up to the lunch break. In the afternoon, the weather improved to the point that it was possible to run all the time on dry tyres. Kimi completed a total of 59 laps up to the end of the test session at 17h00 and set in 1:19.846 minutes the fastest lap time of the day. Therefore he was 0.277 seconds faster than his team mate Felipe Massa, who achieved in 1:20.123 minutes the second fastest time.

Testing at the circuit continues tomorrow, again with Kimi Räikkönen on track.
