Kimi
Räikkönen was the fastest driver on the wet track at the first
day of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix in Interlagos. But
after the track dried up the two McLaren Mercedes pilots set the
pace in Brazil.
The
racetrack of Interlagos was very wet in the first free practice
and therefore Kimi completet only a few laps. He managed to
absolve a total of nine laps and in the end he set in 1:19.580
minutes the fastest time of the first practice session. Kimi's
teammate Felipe Massa followed with a gap of 0.482 seconds on the
second place. Heikki Kovalainen and Nico Rosberg were placed
behind the two Ferrari. Lewis Hamilton merely achieved the fifth
place with his lap time of 1:21.121 minutes.
Kimi
then could absolve the second free practice on a drying up track.
He completed a total of 30 laps and set in 1:13.112 minutes the
fourth fastest time. The McLaren Mercedes pilot Lewis Hamilton was
the fastest driver on track in the second practice session after
setting a lap time of 1:12.767 minutes. Fernando Alonso and Felipe
Massa achieved the second or third position behind the Brit.
"As
usual on Friday, it is difficult to understand exactly where we
stand compared to the others. That was probably even more the case
today given the track conditions. This morning in the wet, we just
checked that the car
was okay and then in the afternoon, especially the first part of
the session, the track still had some damp patches. Then, when
conditions improved, we came up against a bit of traffic. We are
reasonably happy with the way today went, but there is still a lot
of room for improvement on the car."
