Bad
luck for Kimi Räikkönen in the first Qualifying of the F1 season
in the Australian Melbourne. Because of technical problems in the
first part of the Qualifying the Finn couldn't intrude on the
event any more.
Kimi
Räikkönen set in 1:26.140 minutes the fifth fastest time in the
first Qualifying and therefore he clearly achieved the second one.
But on his way back to the pits the Finn was forced to stop on the
track due to a problem with the electronic fuel pump.
Unfortunately there is a new rule that says, that a driver is not
permitted to take part at the remaining Qualifying, when he needs
external help to pass the pit lane. Therefore Kimi will start
tomorrows race only from the 16th position in the grid.
"Clearly
I am disappointed. A few corners from the end of my in-lap, I had
a problem with the electronic fuel pump which forced me to stop
near the pit lane and so it was impossible for me to get back to
the garage to try and fix the problem. These things happen, but
it's definitely not the best way to start the season. Now we must
try to do our best to pick up some points tomorrow, because it is
important to score something in every race."
