Kimi
Räikkönen drove the second fastest time in today's Qualifying of
the Malaysian Grand Prix in Sepang. Therefore he will start
tomorrow's race from the first row in the grid together with his
team mate Felipe Massa.
Today,
Kimi Räikkönen could already convince in the first and second
part Qualifying. With a time of 1:35.645 minutes he achieved the
sixth place in Q1. And in Q2 the Finn set in 1:34.188 minutes the
fastest lap time of the whole weekend till now. Kimi then was
beaten only by his team mate Felipe Massa in the third and last
part of the Qualifying. With his time of 1:36.230 minutes he was
0.482 seconds slower than the Brazilian. The two McLaren Mercedes
drivers Heikki Kovalainen and Lewis Hamilton followed on the third
and fourth position.
"Of
course, I would prefer to have taken pole, but second place is
definitely not bad and I am happy that the team got the best
result possible. In Q3, I was not able to get the tyres to work as
well as possible, especially on my second run, after having had a
good lap in Q2. The track seemed to be a bit more slippery and I
was not able to get everything out of the car. Tomorrow's race
will be very tough: I made a good start in Melbourne and I hope I
can do the same tomorrow."
